Presentation and discussion on what happened in the streets of Toronto during the G20 summit, why 900+ people were arrested, and why we were protesting in the streets in the first place. We'll discuss Obama's renewed interest in several free trade agreements and why that is related to the G20, and why we must continue to stand up to oppose these harmful polices. And we'll show off some of the many pretty pictures that were snapped by us and our friends during the protests!
Hosted by Lacy MacAuley, Robby Diesu, and Geoff Millard

Message from Lacy on why you should come!
Hello friends,
On Sunday, June 27, I was assaulted by Toronto police as they arrested me, pulling me from a peaceful rally, throwing me into the back of an unmarked van. I am a pacifist and I did not resist arrest. I did not even resist when they punched and strangled me. Then they kept me in jail for two and a half days. Washington DC based activists Robby Diesu and Geoff Millard (of Iraq Veterans Against the War) were in Toronto at the time protesting the G20, and extended their trip by several days to offer jail support to me and the other 900+ arrestees, many of whom were assaulted like I was, harassed, and arrested on false accusations. (You can read my full account on my blog,www.lacymacauley.wordpress.com.)
Unbelievably, I have been charged with "assault of a police officer" when I was the one assaulted. About 260 of those arrested during the G20 have been assigned charges like "obstructing a police officer" or even the bogus charge "conspiracy to commit a crime."
I am expected to return to Toronto to face charges on August 23. However, my funds are quite tight and an airline ticket that ranges from $300 to $500 is looking unattainable. Also, Geoff and Robby (who's looking for a job - any takers?) had to spring for extra days on a rental van, food, and lodging to stay and support the prisoners. It would be brilliant if they could get reimbursed!
So we're hosting a reportback and fundraiser on the G20. We're figuring that everyone would love to have an opportunity to get together and discuss this as a group, and get the full story of everything that happened during the G20. We also have plenty of photos and our eyewitness accounts of everything from burning police cars to indigenous resistance. So come with your questions :)
We hope you can all come out!

The G8/G20 meetings took place in Ontario from June 25-27, 2010. Toronto-based organizations of women, people of colour, indigenous peoples, the poor, the working class, queer and trans people and disabled people organized a peoples convergence with 40,000 people taking to the streets, standing up for justice in collaboration and solidarity!
Activists, community members, inspired and outraged individuals came together as a movement to demand justice for people and the planet. Over a week of mobilizations, events, workshops and direct actions took place in the face of state and police repression, violence and infringements on rights and freedoms.
We must continue to mobilize and build greater solidarity among our communities- an important part of this is supporting all those arrested during the G20 summit, including our allies still in detention, and those released on bail.
