Date: Wednesday July 21st
Time: 7:30pm (registration 7pm)
Location: OISE, Room 2-214
(252 Bloor St W, near St George Subway), Wheelchair AccessibleCo-hosted by OPIRG-Toronto.

Due to space constraints this meeting is ONLY for people with outstanding criminal charges related to the G8/G20. We are holding another information session on Sunday, August 8th about other legal options for those detained, searched or otherwise harassed.

The MDC’s Summit Legal Support Project has gotten a lot of messages and calls from folks charged with criminal offences during the mobilizations against the G20 who are concerned about dealing with the legal system.

This session will provide you with some basic information on what to expect at your first court appearance and beyond, how to find and work with a lawyer, how to apply for legal aid, and more. We also want to provide a space to plan on-going mutual support for defendants. Please remember that the MDC cannot and does not provide free legal assistance past the initial bail hearing stage!

Please note that if you have non-association conditions as part of your bail (e.g. you are not allowed to communicate with certain individuals or groups), you should NOT attend this session. Contact us if you are unsure about whether this applies to you.

If you are a G20 defendant and cannot attend this session, please e-mail us at lawunionmdc@gmail.com with your name, charges, first court appearance date and location and the name of your lawyer (if you have one).
