Housing requests and court support needs for Aug 23 (Toronto)

The G20 has left Toronto but approximately 250 people are still facing charges. Almost all these people have to appear in court on August 23 and we need to work to support them. There's only a week left to get organized so please reply as soon as possible!

Billeting
Over 100 people will be coming from outside Toronto so we urgently need to coordinate housing for these people. If you know of a space that can house groups for the night of August 22 and possibly August 23, please contact 247.g20@gmail.com. We're looking for some large spaces that can house 10-30 people but we're also looking for spare rooms, couches, floors where people can stay. If you have extra space in your home, please get in touch. For large spaces we are willing to provide volunteers who can be trained with the specifics of the regulations of your space, to reduce the time commitment of your own staff/volunteers during their stay. This is particularly helpful for ensuring access to spaces after your hours of operation (if this fits your space's protocol).

Transportation
We will need vehicles to shuttle people from the courthouse after their proceedings as well as to provide other assistance. If you have a vehicle and can volunteer some time at the courthouse on Monday or if you are willing to lend your car, please let us know.

Food
Many people will be at the courthouse all day on Monday. If you are looking to support defendants, consider donating food to be distributed at the courthouse. Contact 247.g20@gmail.com or drop it off at our solidarity van at the courthouse.

Volunteers
We are looking for people who can be part of a volunteer team and assist at the courthouse on Monday.

Please contact us at 247.g20@gmail.com as soon as possible if you are able to help out with any of the above issues.

Thanks for your help!
